HOW TO: Prepare Homemade RAW Almond Milk
Homemade RAW Almond Milk
It has been quite a while since I wrote a post about Soaking and Sprouting Nuts and Seeds. The post was somewhat of a prelude to this one and I really wanted to share with you guys how to make your own raw nut milk.
It's not difficult at all and in fact it's so much better than storebought! You just need some nuts, water, a blender and a strainer or a cheesecloth.

Preparation:
1) Soak the almonds at least 8-12 hours and make sure you change the water they're soaking in once or twice.
2) Rinse well the soaked nuts and put them in a blender/food processor adding some clean water. Blend for 2-3 minutes.
3) Use a strainer or a cheesecloth to strain your delicious homemade almond milk from the pulp.
Taking it further:
4) Place your nut milk back in the blender and add sweetener if desired.
5) You can improvise and create different tastes for your milk using a tsp of your favourite flavours:
- turmeric for boosting your immune system
- vanilla for some delicate aroma with your morning coffee
- cinnamon for that fat-burning kick in your diet
- raw cacao to incorporate some antioxidant properties in your milk
- pumpkin spice for that pumpkin pie flavour or even better that awesome pumpkinspice latte you love!
Improvise with the flavours and even combine them if you like!

Gabi K.

The most common ratio of nuts to water you'll find on the web is 1:2. That's perfect if you want a nut milk that is about as thick as a 2% milk. If you want it thicker or thinner you can always adjust the liquid amount to your liking.
